In-Person Events

This document (the “Code of Conduct”) outlines the Cyber Innovation Center’s (hereinafter “CIC”) expectations for all participants of CIC in-person events, whether on or off site. The event organizers will enforce this Code of Conduct and expect cooperation from all in-person event participants and attendees (e.g., speakers, attendees, media, sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers, staff, partners, etc.) (herein after “participants,” “attendees,” or “you”) to help the CIC promote an enjoyable experience for everyone.

The CIC is committed to providing a safe and productive environment that fosters open dialogue and the open expression of ideas that is free of harassment, discrimination, and hostile conduct. The CIC recognizes a shared responsibility to create and maintain that environment for the benefit of all participants and attendees.

All participants and attendees shall conduct their business and interactions at CIC events in compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Dress Code

  • Smart Casual to Business Casual Attire: Attendees are encouraged to wear business-casual clothing, which can include slacks, skirts or dresses, khakis, untorn jeans, collared shirts, blouses, sweaters, sports coats or blazers, and professional but comfortable footwear. At a minimum clothing should be clean, free of tears, and appropriate for a professional setting. Clothing with offensive language or images is not allowed.
  • Name Badges: Attendees are required to always wear their name badges visibly during sessions and events. Failure to wear your name badge may result in being asked to leave the event.

Unacceptable Behaviors

The following are examples of unacceptable behavior:

  • Taking food and beverages provided by the conference event outside of the venue area
  • Intimidating, harassing, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning conduct, including physical or verbal (e.g., threats, annoyance, pushing, shoving, or physical force whatsoever against any person) which in any way creates a disturbance that is disruptive or dangerous, or creates anxiety or apprehension in an individual or group
  • Offensive verbal comments, including comments that others may find inappropriate (e.g., comments related to race, ethnicity, age, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, marital status, etc.)
  • Nudity, sexual behavior, or possession or sharing of lewd images
  • Intimidation or stalking
  • Harassing or deceptive photography or recording
  • Intentional disruption of presentations or other events
  • Inappropriate or unwelcome physical contact or verbal advances
  • Possession of any item that can be used as a weapon, which may cause danger to others if used inappropriately
  • Possessing any illegal substance
  • Being under the influence of substances (e.g., alcohol or drugs) to the point of unseemly intoxication
  • Smoking or vaping, other than in designated areas
  • Failing to obey any rules or regulations of the venue
  • Failing to adhere to the CIC’s verbal or written instruction
  • Assembling for the purpose of, or resulting in, disturbing the peace
  • Committing any unlawful act
  • Engaging in offensive behavior
  • Failing to abide by the Terms & Conditions agreed-to at registration

Consequences

Any unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated. Anyone engaged in any such unacceptable behavior is subject to expulsion from the event without warning or refund and/or banishment from future CIC events.

All determinations of unacceptable behavior and resulting consequences are at the sole discretion of the CIC and will be considered final.

The CIC expects participants and attendees to follow this Code of Conduct at the event venue, any external venue affiliated with the CIC, and/or CIC ancillary or social events. This Code of Conduct may be revised at any time by the CIC without notification to the participants and attendees and is non-negotiable.

If you are unable to abide by any portion of this Code of Conduct for medical reasons you must email [email protected]. If you think you have seen activity that violates this Code of Conduct, please notify CIC personnel as soon as possible either directly to a staff member on site or to [email protected]

 

Virtual Events

This Code of Conduct outlines CIC’s expectations for all participants of CIC virtual events. The event organizers will enforce this Code of Conduct and expect cooperation from all virtual event participants and attendees (e.g., speakers, attendees, media, sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers, staff, partners, etc.) to help us promote an enjoyable virtual experience for everyone.

The CIC is committed to providing a safe and productive environment that fosters open dialogue and the free expression of ideas that is free of harassment, discrimination, and hostile conduct. The CIC recognizes a shared responsibility to create and maintain that environment for the benefit of all.

All participants and attendees shall conduct their business and interactions at CIC events in compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Unacceptable Virtual Event Behavior

The following are examples of unacceptable behavior:

  • Intimidating, harassing, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning conduct, including physical or verbal (e.g., threats, annoyance, pushing, shoving, or physical force whatsoever against any person) which in any way creates a disturbance that is disruptive or dangerous, or creates anxiety or apprehension in an individual or group
  • Offensive verbal comments, including comments that others may find inappropriate (e.g., comments related to race, ethnicity, age, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, marital status, etc.)
  • Nudity, sexual behavior, or possession or sharing of lewd images
  • Intimidation or stalking
  • Harassing or deceptive photography or recording
  • Intentional disruption of presentations or other events
  • Inappropriate or unwelcome verbal advances
  • Being under the influence of substances (e.g., alcohol or drugs) to the point of unseemly intoxication
  • Smoking and vaping on camera
  • Failing to adhere to the CIC’s verbal or written instruction
  • Attendees are expected to wear attire appropriate for a professional virtual learning environment while on camera
  • Committing any unlawful act
  • Engaging in offensive behavior

Any unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated. Anyone engaged in any such unacceptable behavior is subject to expulsion from the virtual CIC event without warning and/or banishment from future CIC on-site and/or virtual events.

Reporting Code of Conduct Violations

If you think you have seen activity that violates this Code of Conduct, please notify the CIC as soon as possible by private messaging the presenter in the chat function or emailing [email protected]
