Career awareness is an important piece in solving the cyber workforce shortage.
The cybersecurity workforce has the important job of protecting our online information, which includes everything from personal online accounts to matters of national security. Though the nation currently does not have enough qualified cybersecurity employees to fill the 464,420 cybersecurity openings, CYBER.ORG believes we can fill the gap starting with K-12 education. In addition to foundational and technical cybersecurity knowledge and skills, students need to know what careers are available to them as they shape their education.

A new tool from National Initiative for Cybersecurity Careers and Studies (NICCS) allows users to explore work roles within the NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework. It depicts the Cyber Workforce according to five distinct, yet complementary, skill communities. It also highlights core attributes among each of the 52 work roles and offers actionable insights for employers, professionals, and those considering a career in cyber.
