This summer has been an exhilarating few months for CYBER.ORG, marked by a series of dynamic developments and notable achievements for our organization. From the highly anticipated EdCon 2024 to our diverse range of conferences, presentations, and educational initiatives, we made remarkable progress in advancing K-12 cybersecurity education. We gathered educators, industry experts, and students to deepen their understanding of digital security, showcasing cutting-edge trends and fostering collaboration. Now, we reflect on a season filled with innovation, collaboration, and impactful progress in shaping the future of cybersecurity education.
In June, CYBER.ORG hosted EdCon 24, a premier national conference aimed at empowering educators, administrators, and counselors. With invaluable support from the Cybersecurity Infrastructure and Security Agency (CISA) and industry partners, this event was pivotal in expanding access to K-12 cybersecurity education and equipping future professionals with essential skills. In response to the critical shortage of nearly 469,930 cybersecurity professionals and the complexities introduced by emerging technologies, CYBER.ORG is committed to providing the tools and expertise necessary to train tomorrow's cybersecurity leaders. EdCon 24 attendees explored a wealth of no-cost resources, gained foundational insights into cybersecurity education, and learned to how to utilize CYBER.ORG Range, our secure virtual environment where K-12 students can develop their cybersecurity skills.
Throughout the summer, CYBER.ORG also engaged in a variety of other industry events and conferences. We presented at NICE CyberCon 2024, discussing the discovery of hidden talents within the K-12 cybersecurity workforce. At Wyoming ACTE, we addressed cyber society, CYBER.ORG Range, and cybersecurity for elementary education. A ASCA 2024: Fired Up, we focused on cybersecurity character education for school counselors. Our presence at ISTE Live 2024 featured our no-cost classroom materials and valuable cybersecurity education tips. We also hosted almost 20 virtual professional development sessions from July 29 to August 1, offering detailed overviews and insights into popular cybersecurity courses.
As summer comes to a close, we’re excited to announce the addition of new curricula and activities, including cybersecurity courses aligned with Sec+ 701, an Intro to Linux, and Middle School Range Activities. We also joined a new Cybersecurity Alliance alongside 19 organizations dedicated to enhancing cybersecurity awareness and knowledge. Additionally, we were excited to mark the end of summer at CISA’s Cyber Social, connecting with other leaders in STEM education and demonstrating the significance of cross-sector collaboration in fortifying the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
As the 2024-2025 school year begins, we’re eager to continue our commitment to preparing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. By fostering collaboration, providing invaluable resources, and embracing emerging trends, we are paving the way for a more secure digital future.
