In Case You Missed It: Watch the Cyber Ed webinar Explore, Experience, Share, Cybersecurity Career Awareness Week -  where we heard firsthand from cybersecurity professionals as they shared their stories and experiences from the cybersecurity field. This webinar is great for both teachers and students looking to learn more about cyber careers. The big takeaways from our cybersecurity professionals on this webinar include:

  • Keep a portfolio. It's never too early to begin keeping track of your cybersecurity work. Students can maintain files that showcase their coding knowledge, school projects, and certifications.

  • Cybersecurity is only possible with teamwork: The trope of a hacker in a hoodie does not represent real cybersecurity work. Instead, cybersecurity professionals often work in collaborative settings that require soft skills like teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Pay it forward. No matter where you are in your education are cyber career, you can connect with other people on a similar path to encourage them and be a resource.

  • Stay curious! Many cybersecurity professionals are self taught. Stay curious and motivated to learn.
