Twenty eight cybersecurity subject matter experts convened virtually between Wednesday, February 3rd, and Thursday, February 4th, to review the K-12 cybersecurity learning standards developed previously by the writing committee. The review committee provided valuable detailed feedback on the applicability of the standards criteria to the K-12 and higher education learning environments, in addition tothe needs of the cybersecurity workforce and higher education. The goal of thesestandards is to create a cybersecurity-literate population by implementing cybersecurity content into teacher lesson plans throughout every K-12 student's school day.

The review committee was comprised of experts from government, industry and education. Participants came from:

  • Educational institutions and organizations like Centenary College (LA), Grambling State University College of Education (LA), Louisiana Tech, University of Alabama, JROTC and CSforAll
  • State and federal government entities like Maricopa County (AZ), North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (ND DPI), National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) National Security Agency (NSA), Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)
  • Industry players like Tenable, Venable and theNational Cryptologic Museum Foundation

When the writing committee returns to  put the final touches on the standards, they will determine how to incorporate the feedback into the final iteration of the standards.

The final standards will be made publicly available in August.
